Neutron radiography investigations of hydrogen redistribution in irradiated zirconium claddings

Your tasks

  • Be involved in preparing radioactive specimens of irradiated fuel claddings from Swiss nuclear power plants for neutron imaging
  • Optimization of processes (handling, positioning of specimens) and interplay between sample conditioning and detector development at the neutron imaging beam line
  • Interpret experimental data and develop an understanding of hydrogen diffusion and precipitation in irradiated fuel claddings
  • Publish results in high-ranking international journals and reputed conference proceedings and write a PhD thesis on the topic

Your profile

  • Hold a Master degree in physics, chemistry or materials science
  • Highly interested in nuclear materials research
  • Prior work experiences with radioactive specimens are a strong asset
  • Also interested in computer modelling work for the interpretation of experimental data
  • English proficiency (both speaking and writing), German is advantageous
  • Interest to work in a team, in a multi-disciplinary and international environment
