The PSI Laboratory for Nano and Quantum Techniques uses advanced micro- and nanofabrication technologies to advance quantum science.
Lab News & Scientific Highlights
Swiss PIC technology transfer centre is inaugurated
Jointly founded by scientific and industrial partners with PSI researchers: the Swiss Photonics Integration Center celebrated its inauguration on 24 November 2025.
Terbium duet and other quantum art
To create more stable qubits, PSI researchers make terbium ions perform in pairs. Elsewhere, they are using optical tweezers to position atoms with high precision.
PhD Project: Nanostructures for Quantum Optomechanics
The Swiss Nanoscience Institute has funded a new PhD project led by Dr. Simone Iadanza and Dr. Helmut Schift in collaboration with Prof. Treutlein (University of Basel). The project will develop nanostructured metasurfaces and resonators to reduce noise and enhance control in quantum cavity optomechanics.
