The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. The new TATTOOS facility is part of the large-scale PSI-IMPACT project and is currently under design. Using the ISOL technique TATTOOS aims to produce novel radionuclides for research in radiopharmaceutical cancer therapy and diagnostics in clinical studies.

Your tasks

  • Development of concepts for the design and later operation of the TATTOOS target facility including improvements for increasing performance/upgrades 
  • Test of prototypes e.g. regarding its thermal properties, including the design and operation of test stands 
  • Handling of activated components and maintenance in the service cell by manipulators and development of safe processes including a risk estimate 
  • Preparation of technical documentation like operation manuals, technical design report and documents needed by the authorities for operation approval

Your profile

  • Long term experience as a development engineer or experimental physicist with a university degree 
  • Several years of experience in operating and designing of ISOL facilities or similar target stations at powerful beam facilities 
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD systems for sketching innovative concepts is of advantage or should be acquired 
  • Open personality who enjoys working in a team, takes responsibility and drives the project forward 
  • Your strong communication skills make it easy for you to deal with various stakeholders; you have a good command of German or are willing to learn the language
