The PSI Laboratory for Energy Technologies and Innovation (LTI) accelerates the development and scale‑up of energy technologies by integrating materials synthesis, catalysis, advanced analytics and process engineering. By merging PSI’s fundamental research with advanced engineering, the Laboratory acts as the operative arm of the Energy System Integration (ESI) platform at the PSI Center for Energy and Environmental Sciences (CEE) with the purpose of transforming concepts into prototypes, strengthening industrial collaboration, and driving impactful projects that support PSI’s mission in energy and the environment.
Vision
Drive the transition to a sustainable future by bridging fundamental research and applied technologies through impactful collaborations.
Mission
LTI advances sustainable energy technologies by connecting fundamental science with industrial application. Through expertise in catalyst and materials development, advanced analytics, process engineering, and system integration, LTI transforms innovative research into scalable solutions that reduce environmental impact and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.
Strategy
We build strong partnerships with industry, other CEE Labs, and PSI centers to drive innovation. We employ agile project management and effective information sharing to keep projects - especially those with industrial relevance - moving efficiently. We apply cutting edge engineering, analytics, and material synthesis to support fast prototype design/manufacture and technology scale-up. By providing platforms for low to mid-TRL research, advanced analytics, and materials synthesis, we help make CEE more efficient and impactful, thus supporting PSI’s mission to deliver measurable benefits for energy and environment.
