The PSI Laboratory for Energy Technologies and Innovation (LTI) accelerates the development and scale‑up of energy technologies by integrating materials synthesis, catalysis, advanced analytics and process engineering. By merging PSI’s fundamental research with advanced engineering, the Laboratory acts as the operative arm of the Energy System Integration (ESI) platform at the PSI Center for Energy and Environmental Sciences (CEE) with the purpose of transforming concepts into prototypes, strengthening industrial collaboration, and driving impactful projects that support PSI’s mission in energy and the environment.

Strategy
We build strong partnerships with industry, other CEE Labs, and PSI centers to drive innovation. We employ agile project management and effective information sharing to keep projects - especially those with industrial relevance - moving efficiently. We apply cutting edge engineering, analytics, and material synthesis to support fast prototype design/manufacture and technology scale-up. By providing platforms for low to mid-TRL research, advanced analytics, and materials synthesis, we help make CEE more efficient and impactful, thus supporting PSI’s mission to deliver measurable benefits for energy and environment.

Ein überraschender Drall in der Quantenwelt
Ein Effekt aus dem Ballsport zeigt sich auch in der Wechselwirkung von Licht und Materie. Forschende am PSI haben dieses optische Phänomen nun erstmals direkt beobachtet.
Erste Positronen für den Future Circular Collider
Am PSI wurden an einer Testquelle für den am CERN geplanten neuen Kollisionsbeschleuniger erstmals Positronen erzeugt.
