Your tasks
The position is available in the framework of the French-Swiss ANR-SNF Grant on the use of high-pressure and chemical substitution synthesis to obtain new types of superconducting nickelates. You will use local-probe techniques, such as nuclear magnetic resonance (at ETH) and muon-spin rotation (at PSI) to investigate the micro-scopic properties of these new materials. In particular, comparative studies should enable the mapping of their phase diagram, detect new phases, and guide the synthesis efforts. At a fundamental level, your experimental study of nickelates will improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the high-temperature superconductivity, in particular, compared to the long-known cuprates. Besides benefitting from interactions with local- and international scientists, you are expected to present your results at international conferences and workshops.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in physics or closely related discipline
- Solid background in condensed matter physics
- Experience with experiments at large facilities is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
