Postdoctoral Fellow

Nuclear materials science and engineering

Your tasks

To study irradiation-induced effects on materials being or to be utilized in various facilities such as spallation neutron sources, accelerator driven systems (ADS) and next generation nuclear energy devices. You will conduct mechanical testing to investigate the changes in mechanical properties of materials such as Fe-, Al-, Ti-, Ni-, and W-based alloys after irradiation in the targets of Swiss Spallation Neutron Source. You will use advanced microstructural analytical techniques to analyze the microstructure of these irradiated materials.

Your profile

You hold a PhD degree in materials science and engineering with excellent fundamental knowledge of radiation effects in materials. You are a skilled user of different microstructural analytical tools, particularly atom probe tomography (APT). Knowledge and experience of mechanical testing of structural materials are preferred. Furthermore, you are a friendly, open-minded, creative and highly motivated researcher.

We offer

Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture.
