Dry Storage Fuel Modelling and Behaviour

Your tasks

Your research will focus on the current safety criteria for post-operation dry storage of nuclear fuels in the Swiss context, in particular:
  • Identification of Swiss-specific issues of nuclear fuels, which could affect fuel integrity during dry storage
  • Review modelling capabilities among existing fuel performance codes and available / ongoing experiments
  • Development and validation of models for cladding properties and pellet behaviour
  • Coupling and / or data exchange with other simulation codes (core follow and thermal-hydraulics)
  • Presentation of research results in the form of scientific publications and technical reports

Your profile

  • PhD degree in reactor physics, materials science, nuclear engineering or equivalent field
  • Background in nuclear fuel / cladding behaviour and / or fuel performance codes
  • Experience in programming, scripting and sensitivity analysis
  • Familiarity with the FORTRAN programming language would be an asset
