Applied Physicist/Engineer

Your tasks

  • Model, design, and analyze test results of insulated ReBCO-based cables for high-field magnets and subscale magnet prototypes 
  • Develop processes for the manufacturing of short lengths of ReBCO-based insulated cable 
  • Carry out magnetic, mechanical, and quench protection design of ReBCO-based magnet prototypes 
  • Develop processes for manufacturing magnet prototypes, including winding, instrumentation, and assembly

Your profile

  • Masters or PhD in applied physics, electrical or mechanical engineering, and relevant experience in the modeling, design and construction of superconducting magnets 
  • You routinely used ANSYS, Comsol, or similar tools; ideally, you have worked on coils wound from ReBCO tapes or ReBCO-based conductor before 
  • As a team-oriented and communicative person you enjoy working in an interdisciplinary group 
  • You assume responsibility, show initiative and combine creativity and out-of-the-box thinking with pragmatism and results-orientation 
  • Good knowledge of English is mandatory; knowledge of German is a plus
