The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. To transform the current energy system into a sustainable one, new processes for valorizing of biomass are being developed in the Catalytic Process Engineering Group. For contributing to further improving and understanding our biomass conversion process, we are looking for two

Postdoctoral Fellows in analytics of complex organic liquids

Your tasks

  • Development and application of novel sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis strategies for complex mixtures, e.g., algae-based bio-oils or coked catalysts 
  • Development of high-resolution mass spectrometry strategies for better resolution, precision, and compound identification 
  • Development of molecular reaction networks from obtained experimental data 
  • Publishing in international leading scientific journals

Your profile

You hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a strong focus in analytics. You are a highly motivated and skilled experimentalist with strong skills in data analysis. Experience with mass spectroscopy and/or Python programming would be an advantage. You possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and a very good command of English (German would be an advantage).
