Your tasks
We are offering a fully funded 3 years PhD position within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network - UPLIFT, focusing on upright radiotherapy (RT)—a transformative approach to radiation treatment. This position (DC16) will develop a comprehensive multi-modality image-guided workflow for upright radiotherapy, establishing treatment planning, robustness, and margin guidelines based on the gathered upright imaging data and numerical phantom.
Your main tasks will be:
- Develop a versatile image analysis framework (image segmentation, deformable registration, synthesis and reconstruction) for multi-modality multi-posture images used for upright radiotherapy;
- Generate anthropomorphic numerical (4D) phantoms for simulating upright anatomy and its possible variations.
- Design and validate an efficient multi-modal image guidance workflow for upright radio-/proton therapy.
Your profile
- Master degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- Strong interest in radiotherapy, medical imaging, image analysis, and translational research.
- Proven experience in medical image analysis (image registration/segmentation, 4D motion modeling) and deep learning frameworks development is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and written skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
You must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date.
