Career Center 4 RI

The Career Center 4 RI supports PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from Eawag, Empa, PSI, and WSL in exploring career opportunities beyond academia. The Career Center encourages early engagement with career planning and personal development, connects companies and public institutions with highly qualified researchers, and enables researchers to make informed career decisions.

Mission 

  • Support PhDs' and postdocs' career planning through individual career counselling
  • Organize courses, training, and networking events
  • Act as a point of contact for employers in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature
  • Collaborate with the PhD and Postdoc Association to stay close to researchers' needs
  • Build valuable internal and external networks 

Approach 

  • PhDs and postdocs are highly qualified experts, and responsible for their professional careers
  • Line managers are the primary contacts for scientific career guidance
  • The Career Center offers complementary services to support PhDs, postdocs, and their line managers. 

PSI Staff and Alumni LinkedIn Group: Get to know each other, explore career stories, and keep in touch with other PSI people in this private group. 

CONNECT Program: The CONNECT program aims at connecting female STEM scientists with role models working in the industry or public administration. The program offers young researchers the opportunity to gain insight into non-academic career paths. At the same time, participating companies benefit from the direct exchange with highly qualified and motivated potential employees, and from the opportunity to position themselves as attractive employers that value diversity.
