PhD Student

in Experimental Physics

Your tasks

The position is available in the framework of the SNSF Starting Grant of Dr Zurab Guguchia. You will perform a systematic experimental study to discover novel magnetically induced topological phases and control as well as manipulate topological (Weyl / Dirac) fermions via external parameters that tune magnetic interactions using ambient pressure / high pressure / high field μSR, magnetization, and transport techniques. You will also carry out a microscopic exploration of the superconducting pairing and the time-reversal symmetry breaking nature of charge order and superconductivity in kagome-lattice systems. You will benefit from interactions with the local scientific environment and from the networking within international collaborations.

Your profile

  • Completed study in physics or closely related discipline
  • Solid background in solid state physics
  • Experience with experiments at large facilities is a plus
  • Technical comprehension
  • Data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

We offer

Our institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration. You will profit from a systematic training on the job, in addition to personal development possibilities and our pronounced vocational training culture. If you wish to optimally combine work and family life or other personal interests, we are able to support you with our modern employment conditions and the on-site infrastructure.
