Postdoctoral Fellow

Your tasks

During this fully funded two-year postdoctoral you will lead OPAL's future develop-ment into a performance portable accelerator modelling framework targeting exascale hardware architectures. OPAL (Object Oriented Parallel Accelerator Library) is a C++ based massively parallel open source program for tracking charged particles in large scale accelerator structures and beam lines (see http://amas.web.psi.ch/opal/Documentation/master/). This work will be done closely with the 12 OPAL developers. You will be able to supervise bachelor and master students from ETH and EPFL.

Your profile

  • PhD degree in computer science, numerical mathematics, physics or a similar domain
  • Strong numerical and high performance computing background
  • Knowledge of numerical methods for elliptic and hyperbolic PDEs
  • Knowledge of particle in cell methods is an asset
  • We also expect that candidates are proficient C++ ( >= C++ 17) and MPI
  • Knowledge of Kokkos or a similar performance portable framework is an asset
  • Fluency in English, additional German language skills are beneficial
