Your tasks

Photochemical processes in aqueous atmospheric aerosol particles are important for their overall burden and life-time as well as for the gas phase composition and the atmospheric oxidation capacity. You will investigate feedbacks between transition metal induced peroxy radical chemistry with nitrogen oxides, halogen and organic compounds in proxies of aqueous aerosol particles. You will mostly use state of the art techniques in trace gas sensing, but you will also be involved in novel X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiments at the Swiss Light Source (SLS). You will accompany the experimental activities with modelling tools at various scales including explicit aqueous phase chemistry modelling. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled at ETH Zürich.

Your profile

You should have a Master or equivalent in physical, or environmental chemistry. You should bring interest in a detailed understanding of chemical processes in the atmosphere. You should be motivated to work in an interdisciplinary team.
