Guided tours for Groups

Around 400 groups a year use the unique opportunity to gain insight into a modern research institute – the Paul Scherrer Institute. Associations, companies and school classes experience research live.

Would you like to organise a group tour? We offer customised tours for groups of 12 participants and more. These tours are free of charge and should be booked approx. 4 weeks in advance. Subject to confirmation by the Visitor Centre team, this offer is available from Monday to Saturday. Upon request, we also offer the entireor part of our programme virtually.

The big tour starts at the Visitor Centre psi forum. After an overview presentation on the Institute's activities, interactive exhibits invite visitors to gain a more in-depth insight into the main areas of research. As final and highlight of the brief introduction, one of our 3-D films is shown.

Visit of the research facilities

After the short introduction, you will be offered a small refreshment. The following tour leads you to our research facilities. You are accompanied by a PSI expert.

The tour is suitable for groups of 12 to 120 participants and is conducted in English, German or French (other languages on request).

Duration: 2,5 to 3 hours

Virtual tour

The virtual tour takes place entirely online. Via a Zoom link, the big tour (consisting of an introductory presentation of the Paul Scherrer Institute, an overview of the tour and a guided tour to the facilities) can be experienced live online. There is no need to travel to the Paul Scherrer Institute.

This kind of tour is suitable for:

  • Groups with a long journey,
  • Groups of persons with limited mobility,
  • Very large groups (>200).

Duration: 90 minutes

The short introduction at the Visitor Centre psi forum can also be booked separately. This short programme is suitable for groups of 12 to 80 participants and is available in English, German or French (other languages on request). Please note that this offer does not include a visit of our research facilities.

This offer is therefore particularly suitable for groups with a limited time budget or limited mobility.

A virtual tour can be added to the short programme on request.

Duration: 90 minutes, including virtual tour 2.5 hours.


Special Tours

We also offer guided tours for groups with a special interest in PSI infrastructure facilities or PSI activities on the safe use of nuclear energy. Please contact us by phone for these topics.
