Social Benefits – Secure your future

Pension Plan – Fit for old age

All PSI employees are members of the Federal pension scheme, PUBLICA. As a modern managed pension scheme, the pension fund of the ETH Domain offers advanced benefits which are tailored to suit the needs of the staff.

Accident Insurance – For all situations

All PSI employees are insured with the Swiss Accident Insurance, SUVA, against the consequences of occupational and non-occupational accidents.

Collective Supplementary Accident Insurance

In addition to the mandatory accident insurance in accordance with the Accident Insurance Act (Unfallversicherungsgesetz UVG), PSI contracted a collective supplementary accident insurance dealing with economic consequences of accidents or occupational disease.

Continuation of Pay – Security in case of illness or accident

From the first day of employment, all staff are entitled to a continuation of pay for 730 days in the case of illness or accident. However, this does not apply to trainees and temporary personnel.

Leave for parents-to-be, maternity, paternity and adoption

Paid maternity leave of 16 weeks is granted following the birth of a child. After consultation, half of this leave can be taken as a self-determined reduction of the level of employment. If the father also works in the ETH Domain, this leave can be divided between the parents, as they choose.

If children up to the age of 6 years, and handicapped children, are fostered with a view to adoption, paid leave of two months is granted.

Fathers are entitled to ten days of paid paternity leave after the birth of the child.

Health Insurance

Health insurance is mandatory in Switzerland, but the choice of health insurance provider is up to the employee.
