Postdoctoral Fellow
Your tasks
Your task will be to setup the demonstration experiments. In a team of three PhD students and two postdoctoral fellows you will take the lead in preparing engineering beam-times demonstrating the crucial steps of the experimental approach. In particular, you will setup a cryostat to cool a superconducting magnetic shield and prepare a set of magnetometers and coils to monitor and control the magnetic field.
As experimental postdoctoral fellow, you will support the PhD research projects helping on all experimental tasks.
Your profile
We seek a talented and ambitious person who is highly motivated to work on this outstanding project, willing to lay the groundwork for an exciting new measurement in particle physics within a new international collaboration.
- You hold a PhD degree in physics, ideally with a background in experimental particle or nuclear physics
- You have a hands-on attitude and feel comfortable to work on technical and engineering tasks
- You feel good and stay motivated when working independently
- You feel responsible for a thorough documentation of you work including the preparation of manuscripts for publication
- A good level of English (C1) as working language in spoken and written is mandatory
- Knowledge of German or willingness to learn German is a plus
