You will manufacture devices based on artificial spin systems using nanofabrication methods including sputter deposition and electron beam lithography. The devices will be characterised in terms of the magnetic properties with lab-based methods. You will be expected to measure the magnetic configurations with magnetic force microscopy and synchrotron x-ray imaging. You should also develop models for the behaviour of the artificial spin ice.
Excellent qualifications with a master degree in physics, material science, or a related field and enjoys practical work. Knowledge of magnetism, synchrotron x-ray methods, and nanofabrication is beneficial. As an enthusiastic researcher you like team work and have a flexible approach to working between different laboratories.
