Postdoctoral Fellow - Reaction mechanisms in catalysis
In collaboration with the National Centre of Competence in Research – Catalysis, you will design and construct reactors and sources to study reaction mechanisms in halogen-mediated upgrading of natural gas and in lignin hydrodeoxygenation by imaging photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (iPEPICO) with VUV synchrotron radiation. iPEPICO allows for the isomer-selective assignment of elusive reactive intermediates, the detection of which will allow us to establish and control the reaction mechanism. You will collaborate closely with the Advanced Catalysis Engineering (aCe) Group at ETH Zurich and the Laboratory of Sustainable and Catalytic Processing at EPFL. Your tasks will include planning and executing experiments, data analysis, and publication of the results in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences.
- PhD degree in chemistry, physics or related field
- Strong instrumentation background and experimental skills
- Good communication skills in English
- Expertise in one or more of the following: reaction mechanisms, catalysis, reactors, mass spectrometry, photoelectron spectroscopy, high vacuum techniques, large-scale facilities
