Design, assembly and commissioning of a magneto-optical sample testing platform

Your tasks

  • Design and assembly a scanning polar magneto-optical Kerr effect setup to be used for the pre-characterization of magnetic samples for X-Ray microscopy
  • Program the control system for the setup (application of magnetic fields, electrical excitations and the motion of the sample)
  • Acquire first test measurements including corresponding X-Ray microscopy imaging
  • Presenting the results of your internship to the group and document it in an internal PSI report

Your profile

  • Student in Physics, Engineering, or a similar field (minimum 4 semesters)
  • Knowledge of Python and/or C programming languages required
  • Interest in designing and commissioning measurement setups
  • You are open minded, communicative and enjoy working in an international team
  • Proficiency in English is desired
  • You have not yet completed your Master's thesis
