Science Editor

100 % position, also suitable for jobsharing

Your tasks

The researchers of PSI publish numerous papers every year in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals. Your assignment is to make these publications known to experts with a similar scientific background, as well as to those with a different scientific background. To this end, you write an attractive, accessible, English-language text about each publication in which you highlight, for a specialist audience, the excellence of the research work that has been done. You are also responsible for illustrating these texts in an attractive way. You produce the texts and images in close consulation with the authors of the journal papers. You publish texts and images on the PSI website as well as via EurekAlert. In addition, you work with PSI's social media manager to establish a Twitter channel through which you can advertise the website. You place the images associated with each text on Instagram and advertise the website there as well.

Your profile

You have a degree in the natural sciences. Your scientific understanding extends beyond your own subject area and encompasses the broad spectrum of topics explored at PSI. You are a native speaker of English and can express yourself eloquently in writing. You can provide work samples of texts that you have written for a specialist audience on the basis of scientific publications in PRL, Nature, Science, or comparable journals. You are familiar with handling social media. You work quickly and meet your deadlines.
