Swiss Light Source beamlines (SLS 2.0 project)

Your tasks

As a member of a dynamic and international team you will be involved in the upcoming major upgrade of the Swiss Light Source (SLS 2.0 project). Your main responsibility will be the integration of HW and SW components of upcoming SLS 2.0 beamlines into the EPICS control system (focusing on the major upgrade of the Macromolecular Crystallography (PX III) beamline) as well as addressing specific higher level topics in collaboration with the High Level Tools & DAQ group and Science IT experts. You will be involved in technical project management and coordination of control system integration tasks and will work closely with different stakeholders (BL scientists, other expert groups, system architect and SLS 2.0 project management). Your involvement in the HW procurement process is important in order to guarantee conformity with Controls standards. In addition, you are responsible for writing and maintaining required technical documentation.

Your profile

You hold a degree in software or electrical engineering, computer science, natural sciences or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in control systems for large research facilities (preferably EPICS). Furthermore, you gained experience in software development (e.g. C/C++, Python, scripting languages). Being familiar with motion systems and hardware integration as well as having experience with particle accelerators is of great advantage. As a team player you enjoy working in an interdisciplinary and multinational environment and are eager to intensively interact with users of your applications. You have good communication skills and you strive to be proactive. You are fluent in written and spoken English and knowledge of German is a plus.
