Radiation Dosimetry

Your tasks

  • Responsibility for the internal dosimetry service, including calculation of the doses for non-standard models, monitoring of the devices, support for the Section on radiation protection for monitoring and triage problems
  • Support for the routine dosimetry services (reporting, dosimeter evaluation, data review, quality management processes, troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance of database, etc.)
  • Development of concepts and methods for measuring ionizing radiation
  • Provide expertise in the area of personal dosimetry for internal and external customers, when necessary supported by Monte-Carlo simulations
  • Research and development projects in the area of dosimetry and radiation measurements, including the advisement of students
  • Design, preparation and implementation of measurement campaigns
  • Participation in various department development projects
  • Creation of reports, scientific publications and QM documents
  • Be a member of PSI’ emergency organization
  • Lecture in the area of radiation dosimetry and regulations
  • Participation in national and international working groups and conferences in the area of radiation dosimetry, metrology and radiation protection

Your profile

  • You hold a PhD degree in Physics or has equivalent known-how
  • You are highly competent in the field of dosimetry and radiation measurement, with possible experience in internal dosimetry
  • You have excellent programming, data analysis and simulation skills (e.g. SQL, R, MATLAB, LabView, FLUKA, MCNP, Geant4)
  • You have experience with instrumentation
  • You possess strong problem-solving skills and are able to think creatively
  • You are attentive to detail, well organized, and able to prioritize in a versatile and dynamic work environment (i.e. able to handle multiple problems)
  • You can communicate clearly and are able to work effectively in team and across different groups within the organization
  • You are highly proficient in English (both spoken and written). German knowledge is an advantage, since the department operates primarily in German and there is a need to understand technical writing and regulations in German.
