Scientist / Engineer

Integrity analysis by deterministic and probabilistic fracture mechanics

Your tasks

  • Deterministic and probabilistic RPV integrity analysis in the context of irradiation embrittlement PTS for reference PWR RPVs with FEM ABAQUS and probabilistic fracture mechanics PFM codes FAVOR in the frame of the APAL and PROACTIV projects
  • 2D- and 3D-fracture mechanics crack growth, arrest analysis under complex boundary, geometry conditions by FEM, XFEM and their experimental validation
  • Participation in international benchmarks and round robins in these fields
  • Publication of results in scientific journals and at international conferences

Your profile

You are a young scientist/engineer and hold a PhD degree in mechanical engineering or material science (or equivalent education/experience). You have a very solid background, practical experience in structural, deterministic and probabilistic fracture mechanics as well as corresponding experience with Finite Element modelling (ABAQUS, structural mechanics & CFD) and good programming skills. Good communication skills in English are required and a working knowledge of German would be an asset. You are a team player and like to work in a multidisciplinary environment with industrial and regulatory contacts.
