Development of LABVIEW Virtual Instruments for record and real time analysis of TBPS data during SINQ target operation

Your tasks

The SINQ control system is constantly being improved. Starting from 2018, it is equipped (hardware only) with the Target Beam Protection System. The task of this system is to monitor the correctness of focus and position of the proton beam, based on readings of specially installed in the target rods bundle thermocouples, and other measuring instruments in the SINQ control system. The task at hand will be to develop and to integrate a software for the data recording into a physics application, in response to user requirements, in order to analyze, archive, and provide operators with real-time information necessary for the failure monitoring and the controlling of the proton beam.

Your profile

  • Student in engineering or applied computer science or similar, and at least in the penultimate year of undergraduate study
  • Interest in working with LABVIEW, DIADEM and EPICS
  • Skills in engineering, physical measurements and object-oriented programming
  • Open-minded person, communicative and enjoy working in an international team

You have not yet completed your Master’s thesis.
