Metallography

LNM operates a standard metallography lab with different optical and scanning electron microscopes (FEG-SEM with EBSD/EDX) for microstructural and fractographical analysis of metallic materials (Figure 1) including a digital image analysis and management system. Micro-hardness measurement and electrochemical techniques complement the characterization tools. A wide range of sectioning and cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing and etching techniques (Figure 2) are available to reveal the desired microstructural features. Specimen preparation tools, macro station, light microscopes, micro-hardness measurement device, image management system.
