COVID-19: Practical information for users
All persons entering Switzerland must complete an entry form online. In addition all persons need to be fully vaccinated or must have recovered from COVID-19 disease or need a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result twice (on entry and 4-7 days after arrival).
It is compulsory to wear a face mask on public transport throughout Switzerland.
Requirements to enter the PSI campus
All external users of the PSI facilities SLS, SwissFEL, SINQ, SμS and CHRISP must present a certificate of a negative PCR or rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 (with the date of the result being not older than 72 hrs when arriving at PSI, NO self-testing). In case of a rapid antigen test that certificate must be provided by a Swiss pharmacy, a medical doctor or a Swiss test center will be accepted (being not older than 24 hrs when arriving at PSI). A list of nearby participating pharmacies can be found here.
A full COVID-19 vaccination with the last dose received at least two weeks earlier than your arrival date at PSI replaces a negative PCR test. The same holds for a full recovery from COVID-19. Both the vaccination or the recovery must be certified by an official document (either on paper or electronically), which also indicates the period of validity.
PSI restaurant OASE
Please note that a valid COVID certificate will be needed to enter the PSI restaurant OASE. The scanners at the entrance of the restaurant accept the Swiss and the EU certificates. Other foreign certificates need to be converted first (see below). There is no mask obligation anymore within the restaurant.
Users without valid certificate may use the cafeterias "Time Out" (PSI West campus) and "Time In" (PSI East campus).
The COVID certificate provides documentary evidence that you have had a COVID-19 vaccination, have had and recovered from the disease or have tested negative. You can store the COVID certificate in paper form or in the COVID Certificate app. It becomes more and more necessary also to enter restaurants, bars, large scale events, cultural or sporting facilities etc in Switzerland.
Please note that foreign COVID certificates can now be converted into Swiss COVID certificates. Please find the relevant information here and note that this procedure might take a couple of days.
Mandatory quarantine for persons arriving in Switzerland
Also since July 2020, people arriving in Switzerland from certain countries and areas are required to go into quarantine.
Please find the list of those countries and regions with a high risk of infection on the FOPH pages on the Covid-19 Ordinance on International Passenger Transport Measures.
Please note that it is not possible to spend the quarantine in the PSI guesthouse!
