After the restart of the Swiss Light Source in summer 2025 a limited call is open for proposals for the Debye, ADDAMS, PXIII, PolLux, and superXAS beamlines of the SLS. This call for proposals spans a reduced beamtime from 17 November to 19 December 2025 and the exact amount of available beamtime might vary for the different beamlines.
This is the first user round after the long shutdown and therefore it is important that you get before submission in contact with the beamline scientist to check about the capabilities of the beamline since technical feasibility will be an important evaluation criterium. After this limited user round, there is again a longer shutdown in Q1/Q2 of 2026 to install the second phase of beamlines. The first regular call for proposals for the first phase of beamlines is planned for Spring 2026 for beamtimes in Q3/Q4 of 2026.
- Later, regular calls for proposals are issued again twice per year by the PSI User Office
- After the submission deadline the proposals are evaluated in terms of safety and technical feasibility. Then they are ranked in terms of scientific criteria by the international SLS Proposal Review Committee (PRC). The result of this rating is the basis for the beamtime assessment made by the SLS.
- The main proposers are informed by email about the result of the ranking and beamtime assessment.
- The annual calendar for the proposal evaluation is as seen below.
