Scope of project
EuroDelta is a regional model inter-comparison exercise initiated by the Task Force on Measurements and Modelling (TFMM) in Europe. The first two phases of the project were devoted to the assessment of the EMEP sources/receptors matrices. The third phase (EuroDelta3) aims to evaluate the performance of different regional models against an identified set of observations and quantify their performance in terms of agreed quality criteria. Our contribution to this international project was planned as a PhD thesis. In addition to the modelling of EMEP field campaigns, organic aerosol modelling was improved by modification of the VBS scheme based on data from the wood burning experiments at the PSI smog-chamber.
