The Joy and Woe of Scientific Political Consulting
Guests also from outside PSI are wellcome!
Abstract
Science and politics are different worlds, but, in a modern society, they depend on each other. Science provides the means for the future of modern societies which in their essence are technological cultures, politics has to guarantee the freedom of science which expresses itself best when allowed to follow its own path. Nevertheless, scientific political consulting goes hand in hand with many misunderstandings: Politics very often miscomprehends science while science very often confuses politics with its own methods. The lecture deals with these problems and misunderstandings and tries to provide an answer to the question of how to practice scientific political consulting without injuring science and politics in their own rights.
