Department of Accelerator Technology (ABT)

We have the competences to design, build and operate state-of-the-art accelerator components for PSI facilities:

  • Radiofrequency acceleration systems covering the whole chain from low level RF through high power amplifiers, to power distribution and cavities.
  • Highly stable and reliable magnet power supplies well matched for optimum system performance.
  • Bending and focusing magnets in normal-conducting and super-conducting technology, and associated field measurement methods.
  • Large scale accelerator vacuum systems tailored to the very specific needs of each accelerator facility.

We educate apprentices and students and share our competences in collaborative R&D efforts with other laboratories worldwide.
