A Multi-Layer Flexibility Orchestration and Investment Framework for E-mobility-Driven Grid Transition in Switzerland
SwissFlex develops a decision-support framework to plan and operate cost-efficient, grid-compatible charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) in Switzerland by systematically exploiting EV-based flexibility over conventional grid reinforcement. Bidirectional EVs offer unmatched storage capacity requiring minimal incremental investment. Transport and heating electrification, alongside growing solar generation, heavily stress distribution grids. Furthermore, seasonal tourism and mobile EV inflows introduce temporary battery pools representing an underexplored flexibility resource.
