Registration for Calibrations, Verifications and Irradiations

Reduced Calibration and Verification Services

We will be receiving a new irradiation facility starting in August 2026. For this reason, our calibration and verification services will be limited until the end of 2026.

Due to the renewal of the OB20 irradiation facility, our calibration, verification and irradiation services in the photon reference field (¹³⁷Cs) will only be available within a reduced dose-rate range of 3.5 µSv/h to 40 mSv/h from September to December 2026. During this period, the irradiations will be performed with the NI-07 irradiation facility. Consequently, the verification and calibration procedures for some instruments will be adapted. Customers whose instruments require dose rates above 40 mSv/h and still need to be verified or calibrated in 2026 are kindly requested to schedule an appointment before September 2026, or alternatively in 2027. From January 2027, the services are expected to be available again within the standard dose-rate range from 0.5 µSv/h to approximately 3 Sv/h. The calibration of active personal dosimeters continues without restriction.

The desired dates may no longer be available depending on the capacity utilisation of the calibration laboratory. Please register your equipment for testing in good time.

IMPORTANT! On November 28, 2024 the Federal Department of Justice and Police FDJP decided to adjust metrology fees in line with inflation. The Ordinance on Verification and Inspection Fees in Metrology was revised accordingly. The new fees will take effect on January 1, 2025 and amount to:

  • CHF 173 for dose rate monitors with up to 10 measurement points and surface contamination monitors for up to 4 nuclides
  • CHF 347 for dose rate monitors for environmental monitoring, standard ionization chambers, devices with multiple detectors or for multiple radiation qualities.
  • CHF 347 for surface contamination monitors for more than 4 nuclides
  • CHF 145 for each device that cannot be certified due to a defect.

For all work performed on a time and material basis, the PSI industry base rates for personnel expenses applicable at the time of order completion will be charged.

The Calibration Laboratory has also introduced a flat-rate fee of CHF 50 for the postal dispatch of measuring instruments, which will also be effective from 1.1.2025.

The costs for calibrations and irradiations remain unchanged. Additional billable expenses and costs may be incurred for special orders.
