Project BALDER at the RRFM-2025

At this year’s European Research Reactor Conference (RRFM-2025) in Aix-en-Provence, the BALDER project presentation drew strong international interest.

Our presentation entitled ‘Advancing MSR Technology: The Copenhagen Atomics - PSI Molten Salt Experiment’ was eagerly awaited by the experts.

Numerous participants praised the planned approach as innovative and effective.

The idea of a nuclear test facility for the safe testing of new SMR concepts is recognised as a way of speeding up long-term verification processes.

The positive feedback as well as the interesting discussions during the conference have provided new input to the project.

Project: BALDER

The "BALDER" project is a collaboration project between PSI and Copenhagen Atomics (CA) with the aim of carrying out a critical experiment by CA in a nuclear facility with low hazard potential on the PSI site.

Such an experiment will be tested in the potentiell nuclear test facility (NT) which is to be built in close proximity to the Hotlab nuclear facility of PSI.
