FOCUS - DAVE

DAVE allows for a convenient data reduction of your raw data measured on FOCUS. Furthermore it allows you to analyze the reduced data (1d-plot, 2d-contour plots, fitting) and to plan your experiment (scattering density, Q-E range, etc.). The core of this software package has been developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The data reduction module for FOCUS/SINQ and MARS/SINQ has been written by Philip Tregenna-Piggott (PSI).

DAVE runs as a stand-alone program under Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and you are invited to download the software to further analyze your data at home.

Key features of the FOCUS data reduction module include:
  • TOF to energy transformation
  • correction for background and vanadium calibration
  • binning of data in energy- and Q-bins
  • graphical masking of detectors (with coherent elastic signal)
  • export to various file formats for further analysis using DAVE, Igor, MSlice or custom applications (ascii)

DAVE can be downloaded at NIST with detailed documentation. Please make sure you downloaded the latest developer release!

Acknowledging use of DAVE in publications may be done by making a reference to the NIST site. For example:
