Biography

Arthur Baroni is a postdoctoral researcher in the Structure and Mechanics of Advanced Materials (SMAM) Group, Liebi Research Group, at the Swiss Light Source. He completed his M. Sc. in Physics at the engineering school Telecom SudParis (France) in 2016. He also obtained a double diploma in Photonics & Nanotechnology at the Dublin City University (Ireland) the same year. He worked as a research engineer for a year, at the Laboratoire Samovar, TIPIC Group, at Telecom SudParis (France) to build and implement an experimental setup of Fourier Ptychography. He obtained his PhD at the Institut Fresnel (France), CNRS, Aix Marseille Universite, in the COMiX group, where he worked on the development of vectorial ptychography for the quantitative microscopy of anisotropic material. After finishing his PhD in 2020, he joined back the Laboratoire Samovar, TIPIC Group, at Telecom SudParis (France) for a 2-year postdoctoral research where he worked on the general development of Fourier Ptychography and its application for the medical diagnosis, with the development of a polarization sensitive Fourier ptychography computed by deep prior neural network.

Institutional Responsibilities

Development of optical birefringence tensor tomography at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI).

Scientific Research

Arthur Baroni primarily works on the development of polarization and phase microscopy technics, both from the computational imaging - inverse problem algorithm - and the experimental approach. The techniques were developed to study biominerals and biological sample in the optical visible range.
