Marc Janoschek appointed Associate Professor ad personam at University of Zurich

Marc Janoschek

Marc Janoschek, the head of the Laboratory for Neutron and Muon Instrumentation (LIN), was appointed as Associate Professor ad personam for experimental physics – correlated quantum materials at the University of Zurich starting February 1, 2021.

Marc studied physics at TU München (TUM) and obtained his PhD in 2008 for neutron scattering work on chiral magnets performed at PSI and TUM. Consequently, he spent two years at University of California in San Diego as Feodor-Lynen Fellow of the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. From 2011 to 2018 he led the neutron scattering research in the Condensed Matter and Magnet Science group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. As a Hans-Fischer Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study at TUM, he also led the focus group “Quantum Matter” from 2016 to 2020.In 2018, Marc rejoined PSI to lead LIN. For his research on quantum materials as well as work on neutron instrumentation Marc has received multiple awards, among them the Wolfram Prandl Prize and the Los Alamos Fellow Prize for Outstanding Research.
