Marco Ranocchiari takes on the lead of the ESI project as of July 1st, 2022!

Marco Ranocchiari

«We have ambitious energetical and environmental goals to reach in a short amount of time. Within the next 30 years, we need to reduce carbon emissions and achieve the Swiss and internationally agreed net zero goals. The way to net zero needs an accelerated implementation of sustainable and renewable technologies at the industrial and commercial levels. The ESI Platform at PSI is the large-scale facility for energy and the environment and is the ideal place to build a real bridge between new technologies, industry, and commercialization. For years, ESI has developed pilot and demo plants for hydrogen generation from water, hydrogen fuel cells, and methanation plants from biomass and has continually researched to find new renewable technologies thanks to the support of life cycle, economic and environmental assessments, and the different research laboratories and groups within the ENE division. We are living in challenging times, but full of opportunities to leave a world where sustainability is at the center of our lives. I am very excited to lead a strategic project and the extraordinarily competent and innovative ESI team for PSI, to help contribute to the transition to net zero.»
