Topics

My PhD work is integrated within the SynFuels project, a joint initiative between Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) and Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA) aimed to develop novel synthetic routes for a sustainable jet fuel production.

My specific focus is the study of suitable zeolite catalysts for the methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process as an intermediate step for the final production of hydrocarbons in the jet fuel range. In situ/operando UV-vis and FT-IR spectroscopy are the tools of choice routinely employed to study the active materials under relevant conditions.
