Infrastructure of the PPM group

The Physical Properties of Materials group operates a range of infrastructure suitable for measuring the functional properties of materials, both in the bulk and at the nanoscale. The instruments enable an understanding of magnetism, ferroelectricity, electronic transport, and dielectric properties, among others. For general correspondence, reach out to us at ppm@psi.ch. Measurement requests can be made using the button below.

PPMS3 14 T, Helium-3
resistivity and heat capacity

Characterize materials for the temperature- and field-dependent properties. Allows for the characterization of thin films, single crystals, and polycrystalline pellet samples.

Cryogenic probe station
ARS Cryo

Carry out measurements on lithographically processed samples. Four probes and a broad temperature control make this a perfect tool for electrical and electronic measurements.

Interferometric scanning probe
microscope Vero VRS1250

Perform nanascale analysis on materials and characterize their functional properties. Allows the the characterization of thin films, single crystals and bulk samples.

MPMS XL 7T
RSO and Helium-3

Understanding the temperature and field dependent magnetization behaviours. Allows for the characterization of thin films, single crystals, pellets and powder samples

PPMS2 9T
Resistivity and ETO

Characterize materials for their temperature- and field-dependent properties. Allows for the characterization of thin films, single crystals, and polycrystalline pellet samples.

PPMS1 9T
Resistivity, dielectric spectroscopy and heat capacity

Characterize materials for their temperature- and field-dependent properties. Allows for the characterization of thin films, single crystals, and polycrystalline pellet samples.
