Research

The Spectroscopy of Quantum Materials group investigates exotic materials and phenomena at the forefront of condensed matter research using a unique and powerful combination of experimental tools. The ADRESS beamline operates endstations for resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) and soft x-ray angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (SX-ARPES). Meanwhile SIS beamline offers high-resolution (ARPES) on the ULTRA endstation and spin-resolved ARPES (SARPES) on the COPHEE endstation. With these instruments, researchers can map the electronic structures and collective excitations of diverse materials, including correlated electron systems and high temperature superconductors, charge- and spin-density wave phenomena, and so-called topological insulators.
