Biography
Matteo Vanni obtained his PhD from the University of Siena in 2021, focusing on the functionalization of 2D black phosphorus with metal nanoparticles and discrete metal clusters. He conducted his research in the laboratory of Dr. Maurizio Peruzzini (former CNR-DSCTM Director) at CNR-ICCOM. After a one-year research fellowship in the same group, he joined the Advanced Catalysis Engineering (aCe) group at ETH Zurich in 2022. There, he worked on well-defined carbon nitride supports for single-site catalysts in natural gas upgrading, investigated the reaction mechanism of zeolite-catalyzed C1 couplings, and developed innovative analytical protocols to monitor fouling in hierarchical zeolites. In May 2024, he joined the LSK laboratory of Prof. Dr. J. A. van Bokhoven at PSI, working within the Novel Catalyst Development group led by Dr. Vladimir Paunovic to design innovative systems and processes for methanol-to-olefins (MTO) conversion.
