You do not have an PSI domain account, but you would like to use the domain print servers, you can establish a line by doing the following procedure. Windows 9x ( Win95 / Win98 / WinME )
If you are using a Windows 9x Operating System on your computer, you have to login locally with the name guest. Windows NT / Win2000 / WinXP
If you are using Windows NT on your computer, you can login locally with any name you like. Print Servers

PSI has several different print servers:

Connect to a print server
You have two possibilities to connect to a print server.
Pos. 1:
- WinNT/Win2000/XP: Choose out of the menu START the command Run and type into the field Open the command cmd. Click on [OK].
- In the command window, type the following command
- net use \\winprintw.psi.ch\ipc$ /user:anonymous and press ENTER.
- Disregard the password entry dialog and just press ENTER.
Pos. 2:
- For both Win9x Systems or for WinNT/2000/XP, choose out of the menu START the command Run and type into the field Open the name of the printer server you like to use (e.g. \\winprintw.psi.ch). Click on [OK].
- This can take some time!!!!
- A list of all available printers on this server will appear.
Install a printer
To install a printer on your PC, double click on the printer entry you would like to connect to and click on [Yes] in the appearing dialog box.
Install a printer on a PC running Vista
N.B. you must know the printer type as well as the queuename
To install a printer on your PC running with Vista Home or Professional
- click on the Control Panel > Printers > add a printer entry
- select, add a local printer
- select Create a new port, Local Port! > Next
- Enter a port name: \\winprintw\whga_u106_1 or your \\printserver\printer_name , > Next
- Then select the actual printer type ...
Print a file
To print a file out of a application (e.g. Word, Excel ...)
- choose the command Print in the menu File.
- Select the installed printer and press [OK].
