Neutron Spectroscopy Group

The spectroscopy group is a group within the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging (LNS), Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), division Research with Neutrons and Muons (NUM).

We run the dedicated user instruments at the spallation neutron source SINQ:
EIGER Thermal neutron triple-axis spectrometer
RITA II Cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer with multianalyzer option
TASP Cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer with polarization option
FOCUS Time-of-flight spectrometer

We are doing research in various fields of condensed matter physics. Here are some examples:

  • High Temperature Superconductors
  • Critical Phenomena in Ferroelectrics
  • Low Dimensional Magnetism
  • Colossal Magnetoresistance Manganites and Cobaltates
