Master Thesis Openings

Interested students are encouraged to perform their master thesis within one of the laboratories of the ENE Division. A general list of topics can be found here.

In addition, there are master thesis openings for the following specific topics:

Risk assessment:

  • Risk Assessment for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Sequestration (CCUS)

Life cycle assessment:

  • Optimizing the implementation of Swiss biofuels in the energy and transport sectors
  • LCA of water based transport
  • LCA of Swiss transport infrastructure
  • LCA of advanced vehicle power train components considering size scaling
  • Costs and environmental impacts of road public transport
  • Automatic classification of LCA data
  • Life cycle cost and environmental impacts of seasonal thermal energy storages

Simulation/Modelling:

  •  Integration of local renewable energy sources with innovative storage systems, sizing and dynamic behavior analysis

Decision support:

  • Thermodynamics of energy storage reactions 
  • Exploration of interacting criteria in Multicriteria Decision Analysis: The case of electricity supply resilience assessment

Gas cleaning for biomass applications:

  • Removal of Trace Sulfur Compounds from Biogas for Catalytic Processes
     

Mechanisms in heterogeneous catalysis:

  • Combined ATR-IR/EXAFS cell for catalytic solid-liquid interfaces
     

Catalytic conversion of methane:

  • Effect of zeolite framework type on the combustion of CH4 on supported Pd nanoparticles
     

Fundamentals of catalytic reforming

  • Master Thesis in Combustion Fundamentals Group
