We investigate chemical trace species in ice cores such as major ions, trace elements, and water stable isotope ratios using a variety of analytical methods (e.g. IC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, WS-CRDS). My work is specialized on the implementation of new analytical devices and the improvement of established analytical methods for ice core analyses and for the chemical analytical service at the PSI. The main focus of my research is processing and evaluation of ice core data using sophisticated statistical tools in order to reconstruct the climate and atmospheric pollution in mid- and low latitude regions to place recent changes into a longer-term context.
