Laboratory of Nanoscale Biology: Knowlegde Transfer and Education

LNB researchers are actively involved in major teaching programs at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral level at the University of Basel, University of Zurich and at the ETH Zurich. The courses range from Basic Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to advanced courses in Imaging and Mechanobiology. In addition, LNB researchers are committed to training the next generation of scholars by supervising Master’s and PhD level projects. A particular core strength in these training programs include, Nano-diffration, Electron Microscopy, Cellular Structural Biology and Quantitative Cell Biology across multiple scales and multiple data domains.

Our researchers, led by the Electron Microscopy Facility, are actively involved in organizing a core Electron Microscopy course, building on the fundamentals of electron microscopy and diffraction and inviting leading experts to share their knowledge in this emerging area.
>> Electron Microscopy Lectures at PSI,  PHY427
>> Modern Microscopy with Light and Electrons, PHY425 (UZH)

Recently LNB researchers organized a major international symposium on “Cellular Structural Biology and Bioimaging” to bring together top experts in structural biology of dynamic biomolecular complexes, in-situ structural biology, integrative structural and cell biology across scales, and cutting-edge methods development.

Mechano-genomics seminar series: The Mechano-Genomics group hosts a highly successful world-wide seminar series presented by leading experts in this frontier research. Driven by developments in bioengineering, imaging, genomics and AI, the emerging field of mechano-genomics explores how mechanical and biochemical signals influence health and disease, from the molecular to the tissular scale.
