Open day: One finger on the pulse of research

PSI opens its doors to the public on 18 October 2015.

Visit the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI at its open day on 18 October 2015 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and learn everything about our top-flight research at the largest research centre in Switzerland. We conduct research in the fields of matter and material, humans and health, and energy and the environment, as well as working on sustainable solutions for key issues from science, society and industry.

Why do tiny dust particles have a global impact? Which molecules are responsible for vision? How do archaeologists stand to benefit from the spallation neutron source? Why is treating tumours with protons so unique? Used for energy storage, can hydrogen help satisfy our growing energy demand? What does particle physics research entail? Why is our planet too curved for the new Swiss X-ray free-electron laser SwissFEL, where you can visit the tunnel at the open day? And why is a 2,000-HP Maybach diesel generator on permanent standby?

Visit us at PSI to find out the answers to these questions and many more.

The physicist duo Stella Nova will also dazzle you with an extraordinary physics show on the open air stage. And discover the physics behind the James Bond films or immerse yourself in the experimental world of fire, sound and smoke in our large lecture theatre. Scientists from our institute will be on hand to offer you a glimpse into selected research topics at PSI. Find out more on the infrastructure of the “research city” PSI.

Spend an unforgettable day with us and experience top-flight research at our large research facilities and labs at first hand.
