Instrument Description

Measurements with polarized or unpolarized neutrons in the white beam time-of-flight mode and optionally in the θ-2θ mode can be performed. Most of the components are riding on an 8m optical bench so that the chopper - detector distance can be varied in order to give an optimal sample illumination and resolution. The scattering plane is oriented vertically. The inclination angle and thereby the accessible q-range is adjusted by tilting a deflection mirror and/or the sample.

General descriptions on the instrument and its performance can be found in the following papers:

  • Focusing neutron reflectometry: Implementation and experience on the TOF-reflectometer Amor J. Stahn, A. Glavic, Nuclear Ingstruments and Methods A 821: 44-54 (2016).
  • AMOR - the time-of-flight neutron reflectometer at SINQ/PSI M. Gupta, T. Gutberlet, J. Stahn, P. Keller, D. Clemens, Pramana J. Phys. 63: 57 (2004).
  • AMOR - the versatile reflectometer at SINQ D. Clemens, P. Gross, P. Keller, N. Schlumpf, M. Koennecke, Physica B 276-278: 140 (2000).
